Mouse anti Chlamydia LPS antibody, clone CF 6J12 recognizes a genus
specific epitope within Chlamydia lipopolysaccharide (LPS).LPS is a common
feature of the outer envelope of gram negative bacteria, which acts as a
potent endotoxin, triggering an innate immune response. Studies have shown
however, that whilst the LPS of Chlamydia trachomatis does evoke an immune
response, it displays only weak endotoxic activity when compared to that of
other bacteria such as Salmonella minnesota or Neisseria gonorrhoeae. |

This product recognizes tetanus toxin, also known as tentoxylysin, produced
by the soil micro-organism Clostridium tetani. Infection by Clostridium
tetani. results in its systemic growth and secretion of tetanus toxin which
causes muscle spasms by inhibiting neurotransmitter release. This antibody
also reacts with the C-fragment (~50 kDa carboxy terminal residues 865-1315)
of tetanus toxin (Emsley et al. 2000). |
