 Alzheimer's disease (AD)란? 

 

  • 알츠하이머병은 1907년 독일 정신과 의사인 Alois Alzheimer에 의해 보고된 증상으로, 전체 치매 환자의 60-70%를 차지하고 있는 대표적인 노인성 신경질환입니다.
  • 인지 및 기능장애를 유발하는 비가역적이고 진행성인 신경퇴행성 장애로, 중추신경계(CNS)에서 단백질 응집체의 형성과 뉴런의 점진적인 손실을 유발하는 것이 특징입니다. 
  • 세포외부에 아밀로이드 플라크 형성, 뇌의 전반적인 위축, 뇌실확장, 타우 인산화 등의 병리학적인 특징을 가집니다. 
  • 알츠하이머의 발생원인은 아직 명확히 밝혀지지 않았으며 여러 가설을 바탕으로 집중적인 연구가 진행되고 있습니다.
