배경 

Poxvirus는 Poxviridae family에 속하는 바이러스입니다. Poxviridae family에는 인수 공통 감염이 되는 여러 종류의 감염성 바이러스가 있습니다. Poxviridae에서 가장 잘 알려진 바이러스 중 하나는 천연두(smallpox)로, 대부분 천연두백신을 통해 근절되었습니다. 

하지만 최근 원숭이 두창 바이러스 (monkeypox virus)와 같은 다른 변종이 전세계 국가에서 퍼지고 있습니다. 

Poxviridae 계통의 많은 바이러스는 유전적 유사성을 갖고 있어, 여러 바이러스 종에 대해 동일한 연구 도구를 적용해 볼 수 있습니다. 

천연두백신으로 이용되는 vaccinia virus등, monkeypox virus 연구에 이용될 수 있는 단백질과 항체를 제공합니다.

• Background : B18R is a type I interferon (IFN)-binding protein and it is encoded by the B18R open reading frame in the WR (Western Reserve) strain of vaccinia virus, which contains two Ig-like C2-type domains and one Ig-like V-type domain. B18R exists in a soluble and a membrane-bound form. As a type I IFN receptor, B18R counteracts the antiviral effects of host IFN-alpha/beta. Also, B18R acts as a soluble IFN-alpha receptor and thus inhibits the interaction between host IFN-alpha and its receptor.

• Background : Human DUSP3 belongs to the dual specificity protein phosphatase subfamily. DUSPs are a heterogeneous group of protein phosphatases that can dephosphorylate both phosphotyrosine and phosphoserine/phosphothreonine residues within the one substrate. • BACKGROUND : B18R, also known as B19R in the Copenhagen strain of Vaccinia, is a type I interferon (IFN)-binding protein encoded by the B18R open reading frame in the Western Reserve strain of vaccinia virus. B18R exists in two forms, soluble and membrane-bound form and also has a broad species specificity. B18R has high affinity for human IFN-alpha and also binds rabbit, bovine, rat, pig, and mouse IFN-alpha and IFN-beta. Secreted B18R binds to uninfected and infected cells. B18R presents at the cell surface and protects cells from the antiviral state. It has shown that binding of soluble recombinant B18R protects cultured cells from IFN and allows vaccinia virus replication.
